Veterans Recognition Program

Funded in partnership with the Cabarrus Healthcare Foundation and Novant Health, the Veterans Recognition Program ensures every Veteran receiving care is honored for their service. Veterans are welcomed with care kits, American flags are displayed at their bedsides and outside their rooms, and a “Code Honor” protocol provides a dignified, escorted tribute at end of life. Since its launch in 2020, more than 6,100 welcome kits have been provided to Veterans in these facilities.

Tribute to Veterans

Since 2017, the Checkered Flag Foundation’s Tribute to Veterans program has given individuals the opportunity to honor and recognize their heroes, including Veterans, active-duty military, first responders, caregivers and their families by having their name on Brad’s race car at a select race each season. Each name featured on the car represents a story of sacrifice, dedication, and service to our nation.

A Hero's Homecoming

This program is the Foundation’s annual celebration that awards a Veteran with a newly certified service canine, paired with a night of comedy performances, connection and gratitude. A Hero’s Homecoming supports an ongoing initiative to fund the professional training of service dogs, which are then provided at no cost to deserving Veterans through the Service Dog Fund. Since 2018, seven service canines have been given to Veterans.
